Missi Roti Recipe


Missi Roti Recipe

Preparation Time - 30 to 35 minutes
Serves -  4 - 5 Persons


Missi Roti Ingredients:
  • Gram flour (besan) – 1 cup
  • Whole wheat flour – 1 cup
  • Green chilly, seeded, chopped – 1
  • Finely chopped onion – ½
  • Chopped fresh coriander – 1 tbsp
  • Ground turmeric – ½ tsp
  • Salt – ½ tsp
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Lukewarm water – 2/3 cup
  • Unsalted butter or ghee, melted – 3 tbsp


Missi Roti Method:
  1. Mix the 2 types of flour, chilly, onion, coriander, turmeric and salt together in a large bowl. Stir in the 1 tbsp oil.
  2. Mix in sufficient water to make a pliable, soft dough. Tip out the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth.
  3. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with lightly oiled clear film (plastic wrap) and leave to rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface. Divide into 4 equal pieces and shape into balls in the palms of your hands.
  5. Roll out each ball into a thick round about 6-7 " in diameter.
